Pine needles make an excellent mulch for all plants in the rhodo family, which includes azalea, camellia,, blueberry, cranberry, oxydendrum, mountain laurel and others. Most all other plants will benefit. We are totally against the use of wood chips as mulch, for reasons stated in the soil article here in the blog. They are destructive to the garden though it is not widely known.

As well as being good for the plants, pine needles are very pretty when used as a mulch.

For local pickup we have them in large 40 gallon bags at $14 a bag
